I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it by the original author that is. This is a re-write of a book that was published 5 years earlier. Every story and conversation is almost an exact quotation. The only difference being that this author adds a few British terms here and there. This was awful. I'm glad it was only $1, and I can see why they only charge that.Product details

while his story was a hurtful one while he was young I felt the majority of the book was spent discribing his adult years. They were handled very well, and I wish him well but in this catigory there are far worse stories. It was bad but not shocking.
Unbelievable the cruelty some people prevail upon children. I was in shock and tears reading what the writer had to endure. Thankfully he did not continue the cycle of abuse.
This was the best story I've real in a while. I'm adding it to my five star list of favorites.
it takes a lot of courage for anyone who has been severely abused to relive their horror by telling their story. I truly respect and admire the resilience and heart revealed in this touching story. I especially am thankful for the awareness raised regarding the need for improved care and monitoring of "at risk" children.
I was wavering whether the events were true or not. It appears so. It is so incredibly difficult to read such child abuse exits. My highest admiration for the author in his ability to overcome his tragic childhood; and become a sane parent in the end. He shows such strength and determination that his life will be for the better and that of his child.
ENJOY is not a word I would use to describe the story of Billy, but it does pull you in. SO very sad to know the abuse, or rather torture he endured at the hands of his parents. It seemed so many knew or suspected,such as teachers,but no one pursued the matter. The moral, is to always trust your instincts, a child is being abused, ALWAYS REPORT, INTERVEVE,DO WHATEVhE R YOU can. I recommend this book.
I did a cursory search for Billy Casper because honestly, I found this story totally unbelievable & could find nothing other than the golfer of the same name & I seriously doubt it's him! Granted, the author is from England & I'm in the USA but it does say on the cover "The Story That Shocked The World" & I have never heard of him nor his story! My wholehearted apologies if I missed some breaking (no pun intended!) news over the years about Mr Casper but I would assume SOMETHING would come up on Google besides advertisements for the book! That being said, I have only read a quarter or so of the book & that quarter has been nothing but reprehensible & shocking child abuse & neglect! I came to a particularly horrendous instance where Billy is getting bashed over the head with a cast iron skillet & if you have owned one of those, you would know that those are incredibly heavy & would cause serious damage if not death! This being done to a relatively small child who has already endured massive beatings & abuse practically every day of his life! He would be covered with bruises, scars, & daily fresh wounds that absolutely would alert anyone & everyone who he came into contact with obvious vicious evidence of something seriously wrong with this boy! But everybody turned a blind eye.....EVERYBODY?
I'm sorry, especially if I'm mistaken but I think Mr Casper would have been further ahead to call this horror fiction! I am ready for the backslash, everyone! !
