Heart on Ice Kara Jorges Books
Not much emphasis on hockey, just the hockey player H-Damon and reporter h-Freddie. Read more like a YA romance. If I hadn't known the h was in her late twenties I could have sworn she was 13. Majority of the book is Freddie on her soapbox emphasizing she doesn't need a man or anyone's help for anything, the immaturity, stubbornness and resistance to any kindness by a male was maddening. The H-Damon is a sweetheart, but again, written rather YA. He obviously is attracted to her when she shows up at the locker room after a game to interview him as a special interest story rather than as a sports reporter. Instant attraction on his part and while Damon is extremely gentlemanly, kind/caring, Freddie gets snotty and almost mean to any kindness he shows her. Damon works on her from a friend standpoint and Freddie finally, yes FINALLY relents. It was exhausting waiting for her to agree. She claims that's all she'll ever want from him is friendship. This continues on until both are wondering how to advance the relationship. Freddie's switched gears and now wants him but since she's taken the hands off stance for so long she doesn't know how to tell him she wants different. WTH? Just tell him!?!?!?! (See. Maddening I tell you.) A visit to his family on Thanksgiving finally turns the tide. The sex scenes are very tame. Freddie continues to make waves in their relationship with never ending demands for independence and not wanting anything from him, definitely nothing monetary. Damon's a hot, hunky successful hockey player who's loaded. He loves Freddie and wants to show her in all ways. She has a flipping fit anytime he buys here anything and gets the "I don't need anything from you, I can take care of myself" speech. This finally blows up, sweet Damon hangs in there, Freddie with the help from her mom, Angelique figures it all out and they have an HEA. Heart on Ice Kara Jorges Books Reviews
Heart on Ice is an excellent book! I was hooked after reading only one page and with many books I find myself into a good 50 pages before I have any interest in it (and sometimes just give up reading it as I can't remember what I just read). Kara has a great writing style and her characters are so simple and down to earth, you just have to love them. I absolutely love her books and plan on purchasing many more!
This book felt very dated. The characters were likable but there wasn't any meat to the story. If the price point was any higher I would have lowered the rating to one star.
Really likeable characters who each brought their own emotional baggage, but were mature and able to work things out. Didn't have much action, but the sweet story still gave me the warm fuzzies.
I enjoyed this book so much! Romance novels are not my usual genre, but this one was SO much fun. I love all of the characters, and the Minnesota big-city and rural settings. The ending had me cheering and, although I'm not a fan of "series" books, I do think this one is worthy of at least a "sequel" ... because I really wanted to know what else happened to the characters, and wanted to spend some more time with Damon's family. -) I can see why this is on the list of best hockey novels.
The start of the book was ok, but it was hard to get through and stay intrigued by the plot.
Wonderful story line. Surprise ending. Can't wait for the next book. Made me feel happy throughout the whole story. Will be looking for more books from this author!
This is a romance, with no action or real plot. But the prose is well written and the ending is good.
